Global Investment Institute congratulates Mary Delahunty on her appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA), effective from 1 February 2024.

ASFA has been operating since 1962 and is the peak policy, research and advocacy body for Australia’s superannuation industry, which collectively manages assets in excess of AU$3 trillion.

“I am honoured to join the talented ASFA team and look forward to contributing to the organisation's ongoing success.

“A strong peak body, combining deep technical research with the expertise of super funds and service providers, as ASFA uniquely does, plays a crucial role in progressing important conversations on matters such as the objective of super, the role of capital and enhancing member services”, commented Mary on her appointment.

Mary joins ASFA after founding Seven Advisory, a consultancy helping companies progress with purpose and impact. Previously Mary was the Head of Impact for HESTA, an AU$78 billion superannuation fund leading the responsible investment, government relations and CSR programs. She has held senior roles in financial services organisations for over 15 years and is passionate about authentic progressive capital delivering a better world for all.  

Mary is a 2015 Churchill Fellow awarded for the completion of international research on equity for women in pension systems. Mary is a current Board Member of The Emergency Services Telecommunication Authority (000), Victoria University, The McKell Institute and Emily’s List Australia. She served as the Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Council for Gender Equality in the State of Victoria and was a past Chair of Reclink Australia.  

Mary is a former Mayor, Deputy Mayor and elected Councillor for an inner-city municipality in Melbourne, Victoria.
