Global Investment Institute congratulates Alex Satchcroft on joining Aware Super as Portfolio Manager, Private Equity.

Aware super is one of Australia’s larges industry funds providing superannuation, advice and retirement solutions to those who teach, nurse, care, respond and help others in our communities. The Fund currently manages a combined asset pool of AU$125 billion on behalf of its 1.1 million members.

Alex joined Aware’s Private Equity team on 26 April 2023, and reports to will report to the incoming Head of Private Equity, Jenny Newmarch. Alex will play a lead role in the evolution of the Fund’s Private Equity strategy, adding and building capability to invest more strategically alongside Aware’s investment partners.

Alex has a tenured experience in PE and structured credit/equity investing, having started his career in consulting with Boston Consulting Group in Australia and London, before moving to the PE side working at Apax in London. From Apax, Alex moved to Macquarie’s principal finance division working on credit and structured equity opportunities for the balance sheet, before joining the Australian team for New York-based distressed credit fund Anchorage Capital Group.

“We are projecting our Fund to grow to manage AU$250 billion FUM by 2026 with half of those investments to be managed internally. The private equity strategy is to invest strategically in and alongside a concentrated global portfolio of managers, taking more meaningful direct positions in the most attractive opportunities on a direct co-investment basis.

“Having attracted someone of Alex’s calibre, with his broad experience across markets and the private equity spectrum, will further empower our ability to execute on this strategy and generate the strongest possible risk-adjusted returns for our million-plus members”, remarked Jenny Newmarch.

We wish Alex all the best in his new role and continued success to the team at Aware Super.
