Global Investment Institute congratulates Matt Olsen on joining Morningstar as Director of Manager Research, Australasia. In this role Matt leads Morningstar’s Manager Research Team across Australia and New Zealand.

The Company offers an extensive line of products and services for individual investors, financial advisors, asset managers and owners, retirement plan providers and sponsors, and institutional investors in debt and private capital markets.
Morningstar Australia provides investment research and ratings for stocks, funds, ETFs & LICs, news and tools for investors and financial professionals.
Previously, Matt was the Head of Research & Retirement Income at Insignia Financial where he was responsible for the development of Insignia Financial's investment philosophy and oversight of the teams performing managed funds research, portfolio construction, direct equities research and macroeconomic research. He was also responsible for the development of Insignia Financial's Retirement Income Framework and chaired the Retirement Income Working Group, which draws insights from across the organisation.
Prior to joining Insignia Financial, Matt was the Chief Executive Officer of Lonsec Research where he oversaw their investment consulting, manager research, direct equities research and business development teams. Prior to Lonsec, Matt was Chief Investment Officer of a $5 billion Industry Super Fund. Matt also has extensive experience as a buy-side investment analyst, responsible for stock selection and sector research on the ASX and global listed equities. Prior to this Matt held roles at Banker’s Trust and JP Morgan in Equity Derivatives.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW and is a Chartered Accountant.
