Global Investment Institute congratulates Greg Combet on his appointment as the Chair of the Future Fund.

Future Fund is Australia’s sovereign wealth fund, which was established in 2006 to strengthen the Commonwealth's long-term financial position and is responsible for investing for the benefit of future generations of Australians, with A$212 billion in assets under management.

Greg will be taking over the Chair position from the outgoing Future Fund chair, Peter Costello, who was a former federal treasurer. Previously, Greg was the Chair of IFM Investors and he was a climate and industry minister in the Rudd and Gillard governments. Most recently, Greg Chaired the government’s Net Zero Economy Agency, which is tasked with ensuring an orderly transformation to a zero-carbon energy system.
