GII congratulates Claire Heeps on her promotion to Manager, Responsible Investment at HESTA.

HESTA is the industry super fund for health and community services. Since 1987, HESTA has grown to become the largest super fund dedicated to this sector, with more than 950,000 members and approximately AU$68 billion in assets under management.

Claire Heeps joined HESTA as a Senior Responsible Investment Adviser in mid-2020. Claire has lead the Fund’s response to the destruction of significant cultural heritage at Juukan Gorge by Rio Tinto.

Prior to joining HESTA, Claire worked in the ESG Team at AustralianSuper for six years after joining AustralianSuper as a graduate analyst in 2012. In that role, she specialised in integrating environmental, social and governance considerations in unlisted transactions.

Claire holds a Master of International Relations and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Honours) from The University of Melbourne. Claire currently lecutres at the University of Melbourne on the Masters-level subject, Sustainable Investing, where she is responsible for the development of the course content and delivery of materials and relevant assessment.
