GII congratulates Alexis Cheang on her appointment to the role Head of Investment Stewardship at NSW TCorp, the investment and financial management partner of the New South Wales (NSW) public sector.

In this role Alexis will be responsible for leading the Investment Stewardship team and managing and evolving the organisation’s best-practice stewardship strategy, operating model and portfolio outcomes. This encompasses the implementation of the Investment Stewardship Policy and ongoing management of the five stewardship pillars – portfolio integration of ESG, proxy voting, engagement with investee entities, industry collaboration and transparency/disclosure – and embedding this throughout TCorp’s investment model and processes.

Alexis is a sustainable and responsible investment expert with 18 years global and domestic experience. Prior to joining TCorp, she was Partner (and Acting Global Business Leader), Sustainable Investment at Mercer Investments Australia. Before that, she was Director Business Management, Governance & Sustainable Investments at F&C Asset Management in London (7 years) & Boston (3 years).

Through her various roles, Alexis has developed a robust model for working with a range of stakeholders including corporate boards, pension fund trustees, portfolio managers, consultant advisors, NGOs and trade associations. She also has substantial experience in a range of sustainable investment approaches including negatively-screened funds, ESG integration, sustainability themed and impact investments, and engagement across asset classes.

Alexis is a member of the Investor Group on Climate Change. She holds a Master of Science in Politics of the World Economy (with Merit) from the London School of Economic & Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Religion with honours, summa cum laude from Bernard College, Columbia University.
