Global Investment Institute congratulates Craig Thorburn on his promotion to Director - Thought Leadership at Future Fund.
The Future Fund is Australia’s sovereign wealth fund and manages money on behalf of the Australian Federal Government. The Future Fund is the country's single-largest financial asset with more than A$300 billion assets under management.
Prior to his promotion, Craig served as Director - Research and Insights. His previous roles with the Future Fund include Director - CIO Office with responsibilities spanning across both the CIO Office and the entire Investment Team; Director - Private Equity with investment responsibilities including venture, growth and buy-out sectors and a focus on China and other emerging economies; and Director - Emerging Markets, leading the Future Fund’s efforts in better understanding the complexities of investing in Emerging Markets across all asset classes.
Craig has been with the Future Fund since inception in 2006 and originally joined as a senior member of the in-house Portfolio Strategy team.
Craig joined the Future Fund after 13 years working for both the Commonwealth Treasury and Australia’s sovereign debt manager, the Australian Office of Financial Management.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and post graduate qualifications in Economics from the Australian National University.
